Too bad I didn’t see your post before mine, however I did try your approach and it didn’t work either for some reason.

Win7 upgrade will load, Ubuntu will load, but Win XP OEM…HECK NO!

I have a Lenovo laptop X60 series model 1706-w6y.

I tried the Win XP floppy approach with the matrix files supplied by Lenovo, but it just wouldn’t work (probably couldn’t determine the right file to select).

For the life of me, I can’t seem to pin down the correct sata chipset for this computer on Lenovo’s site. I’ve been scouring the internet with no luck.

My Win7 upgrade disk has no problem installing except that it wants the XP OS wich WON’T install. Ubuntu of course doesn’t care. It just works. Thanks for nothing Microsoft!

all you people are retarded. all you need to do with your laptops is switch the SATA mode from AHCI to IDE in bios. judging by the questions you wouldn’t be able to install an OS if your life depended on it leave alone integrating drivers into anything. just do yourself a favour and give your laptop to a random homeless person – they’ll have more idea what to do with it.

Hi, a really helpful solution to part of my problem.

I have been trying to install XP on an Advent Modena M200 laptop (purchased from PC World with Win 7 installed) … … I was able to find the SATA drivers from the Intel website … and the graphics and wifi drivers … and successfully installed Win XP.

However, I have been unable to find an audio driver. The original audio driver was listed as “IDT High Definition Audio Codec”. I have found three diferent sources but none are compatible … The IDT website say they provide customised drivers for each Brand/manufacurer which are copyrighted and not available for download. The PC World, “TechGuys” site, has nothing listed for this product … … I know this is a long shot, but I wondered if you, or any other contributors, might be able to suggest a solution ?
