Fake Version of Nokia N95 – The Nokla N95 – Tips to spot the fake version

If you are planning to purchase a Nokia N95 over the internet ( for example from ebay), make sure not be fooled by the Chinese clone of Nokia N95 – The Nokla N95. Many people have been fooled so far so its quite clear that the Chinese’s clone ( Nokla N95) is quite good enough to be look real.
But don’t worry this article will help you how to spot the fake Nokia N95 – the Nokla N95. A clone of the N95 that’s manufactured by some unknown company in China. The company claim that the phone has a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, and even a touch-screen! Unfortunately what they never tell you is that the “Nokla” they offering is a dual-band 900/1800 which is pretty useless in the USA.

How to spot the fake Nokia N95 phone – The Nokla N95

The good thing is that it’s a clone/copy, but not a very clean one. There are some signs that will help you spotting the fake Nokia N95 – The Nokla N95, you need to watch out for them.

Side by side comparison of the two phones the real and the fake one

Now the signs you need to check for:

Touch Screen Menu Buttons (red box in the picture)

The fake N95 has a “touch-screen” with a stylus, and the easiest way to spot the difference is by checking the area. If you can see a row of little icons (compare to the real N95, bottom picture, it doesn’t have those icons), then it’s a fake one.

Wrong Placed buttons and no dual-slide. (yellow and green boxes in the picture)

The fake N95 has a Play button (yellow box in the picture) and a Stop button (green box in the picture), in place of the real N95’s Menu/Multimedia Key buttons. This is mainly because it doesn’t have a dual-slide mechanism, so whoever designed the clone dropped the playback buttons anywhere. And the fake N95 is not a Symbian OS phone, there’s no need for the menu buttons either.

The Skin Color

The real Nokia N95 only comes in two colors: Silver/Plum and Silver/Sand (silvery-yellowish color). The back cover of the phone has plum and sand colors (which includes the sides too). However, the fake one has a back cover that’s black.

Lens Cover Thumb-Switch (orange box in the picture)

Its not on the fake N95, but very prominent on the real thing

The Nokia Logo On The Rear Side(teal box)

When you see the two phones from this angle, note the difference in the logo placement, size, and direction (it’s flipped on the fake).

Some More Sings : random camera oddity on the fake (purple box)

Not sure what this piece is supposed to be, but there’s some random design on the Nokla N95 ( the clone one ) that’s in the shape of a 3. Don’t be fooled!
Also note that the buttons on the fake look cheaper/low quality and are raised slightly higher than they’re supposed to be.

Note

If an auction says something like “replica”, “Nokia N95-inspired”, “NOKLA”, or sounds way too good to be true, avoid it, Chinese crape that is!. Don’t be fooled for saving a couple of bucks.
