Error 80048820 and extended error 80048416
When you try to sign in to Windows Live Messenger, you receive a message with error code “Error 80048820 and extended error 80048416″ that states that the Messenger service was unable to sign you in and that you should try again later. This issue may occur if the SSL settings in Windows Internet Explorer are incorrect. Here is the solution for this problem.
To resolve this issue, try the following:
In Internet Explorer, clear the Check for Server certificate revocation check box.
- Start Internet Explorer.
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Under Security, clear the Check for Server certificate revocation check box.
- Click OK.
- Exit Internet Explorer.
