   The download for the intel chipset .zip file gives me the following error:
   “The compressed (zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupted.”
   I have tried to re-download it 3 times with the same result.

    someone was asking about the VGN-AW11z/B

    I just installed XP on it, and everything is working except for the finger print reader and the function keys.

    I followed these instructions to include the hard driver controller and other drivers in the XP disk using nLite:

    Then I downloaded the nVidia driver pack form their website and put a custom written driver into the driver directory which gets created when the nVidia pack runs.
    You will need to run it twice. First time it will end, because the driver is missing. then you put the inf file into the driver directory and it will work.

    I tried this yesterday and it worked. No problems so far.

    You have to add the SATA driver to you windows xp cd . use Nlite software to do that. if you can’t let me lkow and i will be more then happy to help you.

    Very easy. you must have Xp cd + Nlite software + Sata Driver.
    Backup your system first. Get you new XP CD with the driver(SATA). put yous CD to your CD Drive restart your system and of you go. Mehdi

    Hi,
    I’m trying to downgrade a Sony Vaio VGN-CS25H from Vista to XP.
    I made a WinXP CD with the SATA driver and the installation went fine. However when the installation was finished and Xp rebooted I received the same blue screen and Windows keeps restarting and going through the same BSOD-restart loop.
    The BSOD Message is the same: 0000007B(0xF78D663C, 0xc0000034 0×00000000. I started the pc with a BartPE CD and verified that the SATA drivers are installed (and during the install Windows had recognized the hard disk already)

    Any ideea what might be wrong ?

    I’m amazed that SO many just bluntly demand or ask for drivers for all KINDS of versions, especially without even thanking the person behind all this massive work.

    Sadly, it does not seem to work for and VGN-NR versions, or at least not the VGN-NR21 versions.

    For those who does not have his laptop model on the supported list, try the procedure below which I’ve found into a forum during google search:
    1) Goto C:\Documents and Setting\”Your profile Name” \Local settings\ temp and clear out all the files, you will need to leave this open to get to the drivers.

    2) Goto your “windows” folder and look for a file called “Model.txt” (if by some chance its not there, run the install drivers you just downloaded and it will be created. What sony does is assign Model #s to each driver you down load and then when you start the install it will check the a chip on the Laptop mainboard for you model – it will then put that model in the “Model.txt” file.

    3) Now this is how I get the Sony drivers/apps I need: open the “Model.txt” file, replace your Model # with the Model number you pulled drivers off of. leave your “windows” folder open and in view.

    4) Start the installer (pause now) go back to the Model.txt” file open it and your “Model” is back, change it again and save.

    5) Go back to the installer and continue, watch the temp directory (which should still be open) and what will happen is the installer will attempt to install the drivers by 1st extracting the drivers to your temp directory (pay attention to that folder C:\Documents and Setting\”Your profile Name” \Local settings\ temp, so you can copy all files out of there to use later) but after that will most not install the driver – or it might look like they did, but really didn’t.

    6) Select the device wich needs driver (the one that shows question mark at Device Manager), select “update driver” and chose the path where you copied the files on step 5.

     Hi fellow users. I have a VGN FW31E laptop, i want to downgrade back to xp pro. At the moment vista is drivin’ me nuts. And some of the add software like divix converter an others are distracting. When i put the xp pro install cd i get to the part where it says “Setup is starting Windows” after it loads the xp drivers, then i get the blue screen. Can anyone help please? Thankyou friends

     I`ve bought notebook SONY Vaio VGN-FW390NFB
     switched on – change some settings (keyboard layout etc) but I used mouse – I was wondered when I tried to press keys on notebook`s keyboard – they are not functioned (no one). I`ve read that some problems could be only with FN key but my keyboard totally not functioning. My OS is Vista Business 32 bit, in device manager installed “Standard PS/2 keyboard”. Is it normal (PS/2) ?
     Online driver search/update nothing changed.
     Could it be physical issue (keyboard cables are not connected correctly or smth like that)
     What are your recommendations ?

     Hello,
     I have a VGN AR590 computer. I replaced the hard drive when I received a warning to back up my data as the hard drive would fail. I threw out the hard drive and installed Windows XP. My Function keys do not work and also the external monitor, HDMI and the 2 SVHS outputs no longer work I neet to do presentations to a projector. Are there any drivers to fix this problem? Sony says that Vista only is supported with that computer. Thanks.

     I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NR260E. It originally had Vista Home Edition on it and trying to install winXP pro. Problem is when booting up with the windows disc it says HDD cannot be found. I tried windows 7 and worked fine but really need XP back on here. I understand that the drivers need to be injected via nlite to the windows xp cd. How is this done? Of course I dont have a floppy drive. Would an external USB thumbdrive work? And if so, how is it done? The download files are .exe files. I really hope someone can help me out.

     i formated the hard drive of my Sony Vaio VGN-FJ370 after the healthy partition got a deadly virus ,but afetr then all the problems started,it never saves power even after plugging it from power it still shows with the same brightness,it lost its function for S1 and S2 they dont work nowadays ,it doesnt have the option for hibernate and standby,the fan haets more than normal and finally rarely does it save power for more than 20 mins.please help me

     Once you have XP installed use DriverMax to update your drivers. Only downside is you are only allowed 2 drivers per day with the free version. Everything working other than the screen brightness control which is a bit of a pain.

     if you use your VAIO for internet, email and documents just install Ubuntu. Works a treat. You’ll never go back to Windows! No finger reader or camera drivers though.

     I have destroyed my Sony Recovery File So when i want to press F10 or F11 to go into recovery mode it dont work.
