   here is the file you need try looking for that, worked great for me i got it from driveragent.com great place to get all of the drivers and to make sure you have them all.. saved me 2 days looking for them myself

    Can’t download the SATA drivers the last one in your list. But if i put my xp pro disk in it says there is no hdd to install too ?????

    Many thanks for the XP drivers, this is the 2nd time I’ve had to install XP on this customers machine, guess I should have kept the drivers on file from a year ago, I will this time.

    Looking for the method to install XP on a reformatted HD for an Inspiron 1721…it says it doesn’t recognize a hdd when I run the XP installation disk. Thanks!

    hi everybody!!!

    Perry you have to install the hard disc drivers, first download de hdd sata driver on this post, and download the instruction file in the same hdd sata link, then, when you are installing XP press f6 key for install raid drivers and point to the file hdd sata drive. you can use usb memory to storage the hhd sata drives files.

    3 days before Christmas and the “slightly used” Inspiron 1721 laptop I got for my daughter had troubles and had to be disc scrubbed. I looked on Dell and Microsoft websites and could not find just the basic ethernet driver for this machine. Your website saved my daughters Christmas. There are a few drivers I’m having trouble finding drivers for, but it’s up and running and I’m typing this message on it now.

    Finally I found a graphic-driver for the ATI Radeon X1250 graphic card that works with windows 7

    here is the download-URL:

    It is a pretty old driver for the x1800 but the driver definitly works with the Dell Inspiron 1721 under Windows 7 even with my 1920×1200 pxel display
    So enjoy your Dell 1721 under windows 7 on full resolution

    anybody know where i can find the amd driver? this link just brings me to the amd website which tells me to go to dell. and i’m sure you all already know dell’s support site only offers it for vista.

    I installed all the drivers on your list, except the one for the Webcam, as I do not have that device. YOU were right, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT to find these, even Dell email Tech Support told me there are no XP drivers for the 1721. However, I still am missing the driver for the SM Bus Contoller. Where do I get that one?

    You NEED to ADD the actual CHIPSET to the list, that R141246 is only the driver for the Card Reader, and not the CHIPSET. DELL POSTED IT ERRONEOUSLY, OMITTING THE ACTUAL CHIPSET DOWNLOAD. However in the mean time, I solved the missing SM Bus Controller driver by installing the ATI South Bridge driver: 10-6_xp32-64_sb I downloaded that driver from: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/integratedip-xp NOW EVERYTHING WORKS ON MY XP PRO Inspiron 1721. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
