How to install XP sp2 on Acer Aspire 7730Z ?
Acer Aspire 7730z – 323G25Mi – on my machine the Broadcom Ethernet LAN driver doesn’t work!! The same for the modem (to be sincere, who the h~ck needs it anyway??- just I don’t like the yellow dots in System control panel…
And no driver found for the bluetooth device, detected as Acer module (??!!)
Any idea? Thanks in advance!
…sorry! the OS is winXPproSp2 En – as most of all other notebook users, I’mdowngrading from the defunct vista.
If I won’t find the needed XP driver, I swear I leave forever the M$ and embrace the Penguin!!
On my Acer Aspire 7730-644G100MN with XP Home (installed beside pre-installed Vista), I have still two yellow question marks:
1. Ethernet controller
2. Modem
Did anybody found drivers for these?
Hans, concerning the Ethernet controller, I also had to look elsewhere for drivers.
Finally found these working: LAN_Broadcom_5764_v6.0.1.5612.zip
Don’t remember where I found them, but it was a “big” package, about 60mb.
About the modem, I forced it to accept the driver from the Agere zip package.
Haven’t tested it yet with HDMI.

This is for Acer 7730 Ethernet adapter controller.
I went to the Broadcom support page and d/l’ed the NIC drivers from there, the 5764 ones. Worked.
And as stated, I forced the driver to install for the modem, using the Agere HDA ones.
One thing I did do, not on the list, nor do I know if its needed, but when installing XP on a Gateway gaming laptop, I had to install dot net (1.1, 2.0, 3 and 3.5) for some of the drivers to work. I did not try it w/o installing dot net, but Device Manager is all clean, no warnings, red X’s or yellow signs.
The ethernet driver in the package of 60mb worked for me, altho the network-controller and the modem device still aint installed. Now I cant use wireless internet…
Anyone knows how to fix this?

To get the wireless going, download the Acer Launch Manager for XP. Install, reboot and enable wireless by pushing proper button to left of keyboard.

u have to switc u’r hdd from sata mode to ide mode
u do that in u’r bios settings
